How to Stop Guessing on an Indian Diet
Indian eating patterns vary widely, and some may provide less protein than an active adult needs. You do not need to abandon familiar foods; use the estimate to plan suitable protein sources across the day while keeping the overall diet balanced.
The Four Anchors of Protein
If you want to hit your macro targets without obsessing, build your day around these anchors:
- Paneer & Tofu: High protein, extremely versatile. Add it to parathas, bhurji, or curries.
- Thick Dal & Legumes: Ensure they are cooked thick. Watery dal provides mostly carbs, not protein.
- Greek Yogurt (Hung Curd): A single cup with a meal can add nearly 20g of protein instantly.
- Eggs & Lean Meat: If you consume them, eggs and chicken breast are the most efficient ways to hit your numbers.
Carbohydrates Fuel Training
Carbs are not your enemy. They fuel your brain and your hardest gym sessions. The goal is to time them properly — eat more carbs around your training window, and choose whole-food sources like rice, sweet potato, oats, and millet. It is refined sugars and processed snacks that stall progress, not your homemade roti.
